An autonomous region since 2003, Iraqi Kurdistan, long in the grip of war, is little known to Westerners. Through a work in the tradition of humanist photography, Emmanuel Smague invites us to discover a warm people, in the aftermath of its oppression under the regime of Saddam Hussein. He thus reveals to us the multiple facets of this part of the world whose inhabitants represent the first wealth and opens our eyes to a humanity taking refuge on its own lands, those of its ancestors.
